Note the pattern: Mammotion publishes slope and cutting-height ranges on everything, because AWD and tall grass are its sales pitch. Navimow publishes them where they win — the X430’s 84% beats anything in Mammotion’s consumer line — and stays quieter about the rest. Buy against published numbers only.

Positioning tech: RTK+vision vs the LiDAR generation

This is the real philosophical difference, and it’s worth understanding before anything else.

Navimow’s approach (all current models): RTK + vision fusion. Navimow calls its system EFLS — Exact Fusion Locating System — and on the US listings it’s described as NRTK (network RTK satellite correction) fused with camera vision. The base station antenna gives centimeter-grade positioning; the vision system handles what satellites can’t see: grass edges, obstacles, and light conditions. It’s a proven, relatively affordable stack, and Navimow has been shipping it in the US since the i-series launched the wire-free category here (around 2021 for the brand’s robot line).

Mammotion’s approach: fusion plus, now with LiDAR. The LUBA 2 line fuses RTK with “UltraSense” AI vision. The newer LUBA 3 goes further with what Mammotion markets as Tri-Fusion: a 360° LiDAR, NetRTK, and AI vision together (Mammotion claims ±1 cm positioning). LiDAR is the only one of the three technologies that needs neither clear sky (like RTK) nor daylight (like vision). Under heavy tree canopy, beside tall fences, or on a lot where the antenna can’t get a clean view of the sky, LiDAR is the technology that keeps mowing.

What this means in practice:

  • Open, sunny lawn: both work flawlessly. Navimow’s simpler stack is the value play.
  • Partial shade or a few big trees: both brands handle it — vision compensates when RTK reception dips.
  • Heavy canopy, walled gardens, courtyard lots: the LUBA 3’s LiDAR is the safest bet on either side. This is Mammotion’s clearest technical lead in 2026.
  • Steep ground: see the next section — Navimow wins the number, Mammotion wins the consistency.

Slope and traction: one flagship vs a whole AWD lineup

Slope rating is where robot mowers are won or lost, and the brands split it:

  • Mammotion rates every AWD model at 80% — the 3000HX, 5000HX, and LUBA 3 3000H alike. Eighty percent is genuinely steep (roughly 38°), enough for most hillside lawns.
  • Navimow’s i-series AWD is rated at 45% — solid for suburban yards with a mound or a ditch-grade swale, but not the same league.
  • Navimow’s X430 is rated at 84% — the single highest figure in this comparison — and adds zero-turn maneuvering and 4WD.

So the honest summary: if your whole lineup needs to climb, Mammotion’s is uniformly built for it. If you want the one machine with the steepest published rating, that’s the X430.

Acreage and zones

The acreage column in the table is how these machines are actually sold, and it maps cleanly to brands:

  • Small lawns (up to ¼ acre): Navimow owns this band. The i105N (⅛ acre) and i210 AWD (0.25 acre) are the compact value options; Mammotion’s smallest LUBA 2 3000HX is rated at 0.75 acre — more machine than a small lawn needs.
  • Half acre: Mammotion’s 3000HX (0.75 acre) and the LUBA 3 3000H (0.75 acre) sit right on this band; Navimow has no current model rated between 0.25 and 1 acre.
  • ¾–1¼ acres: the 5000HX (1.25 acres rated) and the X430 (1 acre) are the two flagship choices.

Multi-zone handling — one robot serving a front lawn, back lawn, and side yard separated by the house or fences — is supported across both lineups. Where the brands differ is published capacity: the i210 AWD lists 20 zones via app, the LUBA 3 3000H lists 30, and several models simply say “multi-zone management” without a count. If your property is chopped into many zones, the LUBA 3’s published 30 is the only figure backed by a number at the top end.

App and connectivity

Both ecosystems run mature iOS/Android apps with virtual boundaries, no-go zones, and per-zone scheduling — you edit the mowing map and set different schedules for different areas on Navimow; Mammotion’s app handles virtual boundaries and multi-zone management the same way. Neither requires a perimeter wire or a third-party gateway.

The connectivity difference is hardware: LUBA 2 models ship with 4G built in, while the Navimow i-series treats its 4G module as an optional add-on (listed separately with the i105N). If off-site control and anti-theft tracking without your home Wi-Fi matters to you, that’s one less purchase on the Mammotion side — and one more line item to budget on the Navimow side.

Blade systems and cut

Both brands cut with small pivoting razor-style blades riding on a rotating disc — the design that produces the fine, frequent mulching robots are known for, and the reason a robot blade swap takes minutes instead of a deck removal. Replacement blades are inexpensive and widely available for both ecosystems, including abundant third-party packs (Navimow i-series and X-series, LUBA 2 and LUBA 3).

Where they differ on paper:

  • Cutting height range: LUBA 2 and LUBA 3 publish 2.2–4.0 inches — the tall end matters if you grow fescue or let grass run long. The i210 AWD publishes 2–3.6 inches. The i105N and X430 don’t publish a range on their current listings, which we’d treat as a question to ask the seller before buying.
  • Noise: the i105N lists 58 dB(A); Mammotion doesn’t lead with a comparable figure on these listings, so we can’t call the quieter brand beyond that one published number.
